Practical steps to bringing creativity
back to business
As the economy in Silicon Valley has yet to rebound,
technologists and business leaders are desperately seeking ways to “re-invent”
their businesses and bring prosperity back to the bottom line.
Bridge 2003 presenters will discuss some of the innovative
ways of creating positive changes in the economic business and legal environment,
from financial capital to human capital.
Mr. Chi-Hung A. Chan
Mr. Chi-Hung A. Chan is a partner with the law firm of Ropers,
Majeski, Kohn & Bentley. He advises his US and Asian clients in business
and trial matters covering the geographical areas of USA, Japan, Hong
Kong, China, and Taiwan. Mr. Chan also acts as outside corporate counsel
for several companies in USA and Asia. On the business side, Mr. Chan
is a director of TYKCL, a joint venture between Mr. Chan’s family and
a Japanese manufacturer. TYKCL operates in Hong Kong and China.
Mr. Chan earned his M.B.A. from University of Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, with concentration in International Business and got his
law degree in The University of Santa Clara. Mr. Chan speaks five languages:
English, Japanese, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Cantonese.
Mr. Chan is a Founding Director and President of
HKSV.com and an Advisor for Institute of International and Comparative
Law at The University of Santa Clara.
Dr. Toru Nakamura
Toru Nakamura is a founder of EntreNest, LLC, and an affiliate with LECG,
LLC, formerly Law & Economics Consulting Group (website: www.lecg.com).
A Tokyo native, he has extensive experience in professional consulting
in transfer pricing tax, finance and economics. Dr. Nakamura has advised
many international corporations, institutional investors and governments,
including the Japanese National Tax Administration ("NTA"). In the past,
he held senior positions at the Bank of America, United Nations ("UN"),
Nakagama & Wallace Inc. ("N&W") and Big-Five accounting firms.
Dr. Nakamura was a Director at LECG in 1998, and was also Director of
Pacific Basin Consulting at N&W, a New York-based independent economic
advisory firm serving over 200 institutional clients and key central banks.
A graduate of Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, he holds a Ph.D. in economics
from Claremont Graduate University.
Dr. Mariko Tanaka
Keynote speaker, Dr. Mariko Tanaka, is a psychologist and a professor
emeritus of San Francisco State University. She is a specially assigned
professor at the School of Technology of Osaka University, where she is
the head of the M&R Training and Treatment Center.
Dr. Tanaka has developed a new psychotherapy called Process Oriented
Memory Resolution (POMR), which she is now introducing to the
US market. POMR is effective in cultivating certain characteristics
such as leadership, independence, initiative and creativity.
The School of Technology of Osaka University has introduced POMR to professors
and students as a part of their business entrepreneur program.
Dr. Tanaka will share the results of her work as applied to businesses.
